Dancing in a Zumba Fitness class improves your self-confidence- you’re doing something new, an activity that you may not have done before.
You have the opportunity to laugh at your mistakes, and learn that you don’t have to be perfect.
When I teach my Zumba Fitness classes, I remind my participants that the #1 goal in my class is to have fun and move. It doesn’t matter if you don’t do it exactly as I do it, just do it!! Shake it!! Move it!! Jiggle it! Just do it!!
Another important factor about participating in a Zumba Fitness class is that you have the opportunity to meet new people, thereby increasing your social contacts, make new friends and business contacts. People who do Zumba together are a happy friendly bunch.
Another benefit from participating in a Zumba Fitness class is that you’re training your mind to focus and concentrate. Focusing on the dance steps interrupts negative thought patterns that contribute to anxiety and depression. I call this my moving meditation. You can’t think of 2 thoughts at once. You have to choose between an angry thought, a sad thought, a fearful thought or a thought about the new Zumba Fitness Salsa step we’re doing right now.
